He was charged with forgery in 1828, later being acquitted, and years later fleeing due to debts. He wrote for 'The Standard', and exploited companies throughout his career. His other works include 'A Christian Biographical Dictionary', 'Memoirs of Queen Caroline', and 'Bianca&apos. Wilks' father, of the same name, was a Whig politican.Bookplate of Robert H. A little rubbing to the bards and spines, including to the spine label of Volume I. Light bumping to the extremities. Spines are a little faded. Some minor marks to the boards.
