Clean, crisp. *Extracts from an unnamed traveller's journal recounting his meetings with Burckhardt, together with several letters from Burckhardt to the author. The unnamed diarist is almost certainly James Silk Buckingham. (Compare the journal entry for Nov. 27 1813 in this work with a similar passage in Buckingham's autobiography).
