Ronald Campbell Macfie was not only a poet but also a medical doctor and a science writer with interests in eugenics and evolution. He criticised Darwinism and theorised about the effects of the First World War on the evolution of man. His work War is described in a quote from the Toronto Globe, featured opposite the title-page, as ".. without doubt the greatest poem on war that was ever written." An inscription to front free-endpaper reads: "With the author's kindest regards. May 1919." Bound in cloth. Externally: Some rubbing, especially to edges. Corners have suffered bumping.
