Bound without publisher's advertisements or half title. Extensive prior owner's notes tipped in. Childe Harold's Pilgrimage is one of Lord Byron's best known works, published in four parts between 1812 and 1818. The poem describes the travels of a young man who seeks distraction in foreign lands, due to his own disillusion with life. The disillusioned sentiment echoes the contemporary feeling of a generation who were weary following the wars of the post-Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras. In straight grain morocco with gilt detail. Externally smart with rubbing to the joints and extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound.
