First published in France under the title 'L'Homme a l'Oreille Cassee' and then in the US as 'The Man with the Broken Ear&apos. Complete with two volumes bound in one. Written by French novelist and journalist, Edmond Francois About, known for his amusing, anti-clerical writing. A number of his works, including this one, have been adapted into film; 'The Man with the Broken Ear' was a 1934 French drama film starring Robert Boudrioz and Thomy Bourdelle. This entertaining science-fiction novel presents the difficulties faced by a man who is stuck in the wrong time. A French soldier of the First Empire is suspended in time for fifty years, being brought back to life in the Second Empire. Translated by J. E. Maitland. Bound in green cloth. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the joints and extremities. The odd mark to cloth, with 'Ben' written in faint ink to the spine. Hinges are strained, with boards tenderly held and cords visible. Internally, generally firmly bound, with binding a little tender in places.
