Charlotte Bronte - 1925 the Twelve Adventurers and Other Stories

 1566337656,
London, Hodder and Stoughton, 1925 . First edition. Cloth. An excellent copy of this limited edition, first edition collection of short stories credited to Charlotte Bronte. A Limited Edition work, one of one thousand unnumbered copies produced, for sale in the UK and USA. In the publisher's original very scarce price unclipped dust wrapper.A wonderful example of this collection of twelve short stories from the author of 'Jane Eyre' and 'Villette', of which nine are here published for the first time.Charlotte was thirteen, and her brother only twelve, when they began work on the source material for the fantastical stories in this collection. There is, however, extensive debate as to the origins and authenticity of these tales, with some believing that Bronte authored only small fragments -  that were expanded by later contributors - and others believing that the tales are complete, and entirely the work of Bronte herself. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards, and price unclipped dust wrapper. Light bumping to spine head and tail, otherwise externally very smart. Discolouration to dust wrapper back strip, with light edgewear to back strip head and head of front flyleaf. Light handling marks to rear wrap. Small closed tear to wrap over head of rear joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed/Very Good.
