A first edition copy of O'Donnell's exciting novel, 'The Silver Mistress', one of the Modesty Blaise series. The seventh novel to feature O'Donnell's heroine Modesty Blaise. Featuring nuns, a kidnapping, and the head of the secret service, as with all of the Modesty Blaise series, this novel is certainly action packed, and full of adventure. Debuting in the Evening Standard in 1963 Modesty Blaise was originally a comic strip, written by O'Donnell and illustrated by Jim Holdaway. Modest Blaise is a talented young woman, with a criminal past, who ends up on a series of action filled adventures with her sidekick Willie Garvin. Aside from the comic strip, Blaise featured in a total of eleven novels and two short story collections. Peter O'Donnell was a British writer of mysteries and comic strips. Though best known for his Modesty Blaise series, he was also a award winning gothic romance novelist, writing under the pseudonym Madeleine Brent. In original cloth binding, and held in a unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart, with some minor shelfwear. Slight rubbing to the extremities. Slight spotting to the topedge. Minor spotting to the front and rear endpaper. Dustwrapper is very smart, again with only a minor amount of shelfwear. Some spotting to the front and rear flyleaf.
