(Troy & Boston Rail Road; Fitchburg Railroad Company; Philadelphia, Albany and Troy Line; the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company; New York Central and Hudson River Railroad)Various, various, 1860. Approximately 115 documents, unused, 1860s - 1920s; various sizes; two of them illustrated with engravings of ships and trains; overall light wear - in very good to near fine condition. An interesting group, it painted a picture of how paperwork of transportation company looked liked and how it evolved over 80+ years (from dainty, illustrated papers to no-nonsense, plain documents). The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad operated mainly in New England from 1872 to 1968. The New York Central and Hudson River Railroad was primarily in the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic areas of the United States. The Fitchburg Railroad operated along Northern Massachusetts, leading to and through the Hoosac Tunnel. The Troy and Boston Railroad ran from Troy, New York to the state line with Vermont from 1852 until 1887, when it was consolidated into the above-mentioned Fitchburg Railroad.
