Two newspapers - The Hartford Dailty Times, Vol. XXVI, Number 10,481 from April 18, 1865 and Daily Morning Chronicle, Vol. III, Number 151 from April 28, 1865; pp. [4] each; the Times folded, with tears, splits, and some loss of paper (mostly to margins), fair to good condition; the Chronicle folded, well-preserved, with a few small nicks to edges; very good condition. Early newspaper accounts of the assasination of President Lincoln, the Daily Times had its article titled: "The Assasination. A Deliberate Plot Unveiled." It gave a lengthy account of the deliberate preparations for the murder and speculations on the whereabouts of the assasins. The Chronicle's article - "Our National Loss. The Obsequies at Buffalo" - featured a portrait of Lincoln and detailed the funeral proceedings for the President. Very good .
