RUMMLER, WILLIAM D. - Opitmum Noise Performance of Multiterminal Amplifiers Technical Report 417 (February 1, 1964)![]() Cambridge, MA: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Research Laboratory of Electronics, 1964. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Paperback. Graphs; This is a technical report with cardstock covers and a side-stapled binding. This report is in Very Good condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The covers have some light fading / toning to the spine and ground-in finger dirt. There is an ink stamp from the Industrial Liaison Office of M. I. T. On the front cover. The text pages are clean and bright. "The problem with which we shall be concerned is the noise performance of a multiterminal-pair amplifier used in conjunction with a multiterminal-pair signal source. We shall investigate the values of signal-to-noise ratio and exchangeable signal power that can be obtained at a single-output terminal pair by interconnecting such a source and amplifier." (from Wikipedia) The author, William D. Rummler has received at least one patent in the area of radio communications and became a member of IEEE in 1989 for Radio Communication. He worked for a number of years for Bell Telephone. He is best known for his work in the area of Signal-to-Noise Ratio (which relates to this technical report) which measures the relationship of the signal to background noise that can hamper clarity.
