[...] This edition was printed for Brazoria County Library by The Kingdom by the Sea Press, in 99 copies." ¶ Mrs. Lolita Reese Munson was the person for whom the Texan town Lolita was originally named. The text is the rendition of a letter by her to The Edna Herald in February 1959, when there was some debate over whether the town should change its name to avoid association with Vladimir Nabokov's novel, which had recently been published in the United States. "I do not consider the title of the dirty book is any slander against me. I am as I have always have been, and so is our little town, which is made up of decent, Christian people."
