East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with a printing of a one page poem, "Crossing Nation," written as a journal entry, by Allen Ginsberg, accompanying a photo of him; a page soliciting funds to help Timothy Leary along with the usual counterculture and movement pieces. GOOD condition. Haphazard horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle. Minor chipping and tearing along the extremities. Address label on the upper front cover. Good .
