The publishers of the two-volume edition felt more relaxed - in the first volume they published fewer pictures, but allowed themselves not to crowd several illustrations on a page, highlighted fragments and showed works from private collections that were not included in the Russian Museum exhibition. The second volume contains even more discoveries: the first full publication of Filonov's manuscripts, memoirs of contemporaries and critical reviews of his works in the Soviet pre-war press.
