- African American Woman Tintype Photograph

 1563877041,
Unbound. No indication of photographer, place or date. Photo measures roughly 3 ½ by 2 3/8 inches. Presumed produced any time from the 1860s to early 1900s. PROVENANCE: none really. This came in a collection of other tintypes and cabinet card photographs of African Americans, with a few of the later photos indicating they were taken in New Orleans and Waco, Texas. There is no indication as to whether these were family photos, or photos collected by an individual. This photograph depicts a young woman standing in a studio next to a chair with a forest background, wearing a full length white dress and black bowtie. It appears someone tried to add earrings, brooch and ring in gilt. The photo is in GOOD condition. The photo is a bit soiled and faded, with some tiny spotting. The reverse of the metal is tarnished, soiled and somewhat worn. Some light discoloration present along the edges. Good .
