ONE PAGE TLS FROM ROBERT FINK 11/08/58 to Henry Miller from his close friend Robert Fink on 8vo. off-white bond in near fine condition. "Dear Henry: / "By this time you should have your new music system. I take a dim view of all my instructions. Any way one way or the other you will or already have unpacked the shipment. I think everything is self explanatory. If not, write me, or have Harrydick fix it up. The speakers don't have too much base response. I am working on a deal. " what follows is one of Fink's patented dirty limerick: "There was a young man from East Lynne, / Whose C^#@ was the size of a pin. / said his girl with a laugh, / As she inserted his staff, / "This won't be much of a sin". Much love [Signed] Bob" Robert Finkelstein (later Fink) was a fan, correspondent, and benefactor of Henry Miller. Their friendship strengthened when Fink and his wife Edie moved to Los Angeles from Chicago in 1949. Fink soon found an excellent job in Los Angeles and opened his own successful electronics business. The Finks visited Big Sur on weekends, sometimes taking food and other gifts for which Miller reciprocated with manuscripts and water colors. Fink offered help in Miller's attempts to help other impoverished writers who appealed to him for funds, food or a place to stay. Fink also began defending Miller against vilifying editorials, writing articles praising Miller's works and character.
