New York, Fleming H. Revell Company, 1880. Hardcover. 296p. A beige hardcover book with a picture of a grinning priest hearing a woman's confession embossed on the cover. Light spotting to boards and mild foxing to edges and endpapers. Text clean and binding tight. Copyright date is 1880, but the book looks as if it was printed later, perhaps 1920s. The book discusses the dangers of "auricular confession," or the Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation. The author was a former Catholic priest turned Presbyterian minister and an activist involved in the Temperance movement. His work went on to influence Jack Chick and his famous "Chick Tracts," which are also notoriously anti-Catholic. Good .
