- African American Woman Tintype Photograph![]() No Place, No publisher. Unbound. No indication of photographer, place or date. Photo measures roughly 3 ½ by 2 ½ inches. Presumed produced any time from the 1860s to early 1900s. PROVENANCE: none really. This came in a collection of other tintypes and cabinet card photographs of African Americans, with a few of the later photos indicating they were taken in New Orleans and Waco, Texas. There is no indication as to whether these were family photos, or photos collected by an individual. This photograph depicts a woman, seated in a studio on a chair with a fringed arm, wearing a hat and dress with a white collar. It appears someone tried to add earrings, necklace and ring in some sort of greenish ink, either that or there are random ink stains that appear in those areas. The photo is in GOOD condition. Several small areas have worn away from the photo, revealing the metal beneath. The photo is a bit soiled and faded, with some staining. Minor cracking/crazing to the surface of the photo. The reverse of the metal is tarnished, soiled and somewhat worn. Left corners clipped. Good . USD 378.00 [Appr.: EURO 323.5 | £UK 280.75 | JP¥ 55849] Book number 020773is offered by:
