This issue contains a glowing review of the paintings of George Catlin of Indian chiefs and other leaders numbering 330, Indian dwellings, buffalo hunts by both Indians and whites, war dances, Mandan religious cerremonies and 100 scenic paintings of the upper districts of the Missouri and Mississippi: "We have now a well-impressed idea of a prairie country which we did not have before". The exhibit was set up in a very large and attractively decorated wigwam on Pennsylvania Avenue. Good.
