- Ma Jaya Lesbian Darshan Event Flyer/Handbill No place (Los Angeles), Center for Living, Presumed Publisher, 1993. Unbound. Single sheet, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Printed on light green paper stock. A flyer for an event featuring the spiritual leader Ma Java, being held at the Center for Living on October 9, 1993. Based on the title, it is assumed this event was meant for the lesbian community. Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati was a spiritual leader teaching a practice rooted in Hindu philosophy and certain yoga practices. She established the Kashi Ashram in Florida in 1976 and was known for acceptance of all people. Her foundation helped sponsor AIDS education and prevention, among other causes. However, her ashram and work has been called a cult by some, with allegations of physical and emotional abuse against the ashram and her leadership. GOOD+ condition. Some creasing, curling and wrinkling along the right edge. Good .
