Softcover, in light teal printed wraps titled and decorated in black on the front cover with the table of contents printed within a decorative frame on the rear cover. The book is largely disbound. The covers are soiled, creased and chipped. The spine has split with pieces out from the head and tail. [iv] & 138 deckle-edged pages, illustrated with an 8-1/2 inch high by 18 inch wide engraved folding map titled "Carte des Unteren Linththales und der zu Entsumpfung der Thalebene ausgefuhrten Canale". The overlapping edges of a few of the deckle-edged pages are lightly chipped. There is scattered foxing throughout with dampstaining to the top edge of many of the pages. Pestalozzi (1790-1857) was a Swiss colonel, engineer and cartographer. He received training in cartography from the Swiss Quartermaster General Hans Conrad Finsler. He wrote a number of hydrographic treatises including one on the Linth correction.
