Contemporary pebbled cloth with gilt title on the spine. = A classical petrographical work by the German geologist Ferdinand Senft (1810-1893), crowned by the Academia Leopoldina in Breslau with the "Preis ausgesetzt von dem Fürsten Anatol von Demidoff, Mitglied der Akademie (mit dem Beinamen "Franklin"), zum Feier des Geburtsfestes Ihrer Majestät der Kaiserin Alexandra von Russland. Senft became member of the Academy in the same year (1855) when he received this royal price. Uncut. Locally a bit spotted, but in all a very good, complete copy.
