Adams, Robert - Denver: A Photographic Survey of the Metropolitan Area

[Denver, Colorado], Colorado Associated University Press / State Historical Society of Colorado, 1977. Hardcover. Green DJ with b&w-photo illustration and black lettering; black boards with white lettering; 119 pp.; chiefly illustrations. Denver was once known for the grandeur of its setting and the clarity of its air, but has more recently gained notoriety for its uncontrolled growth. Among problems, for example, that have accompanied the growth are a rate of violent crime that is now nearly double that of New York, and a smog level routinely exceeding that of Los Angeles. Robert Adams brings to this landscape an acute vision, one that has earned him widespread respect as a photographer. Individual pictures reproduced here have already been shown publicly in this country and in Europe, and a major exhibition of all the photographs is being organized by Princeton University..Those concerned with the future of the suburban American West will find this a document of major importance. -- DJ. Good+ (Ex art Library with sticker on DJ spine and on rear pastedown; DJ is sunned/scuffed/smudged/toned; boards are lightly edgeworn; interior is clean; binding is solid.) .
