Written by the experienced Swiss-born American zoologist Jean Louis Rodolphe "Louis" Agassiz (1807-1873). First edition. Dedication copy, to the German zoologist Julius Victor Carus (1823-1903), "Vom Verfasser". A rather common work, but copies with the author's handwritten dedication are rare. Spine sunned, a few spots, but otherwise an excellent, clean copy.
