Parallel to his professional activity, he maintained constant literary activity throughout his life, using the anagram-pseudonym of Lucas Alemán: he collaborated in the Correo de los Ciegos and Correo de Madrid —and in the various newspapers that appeared— publishing letters, articles and poetry..""mantuvo una festiva polémica literaria en el Diario de Madrid, y publicó en 1813 y 1814 la Pajarera literaria, colección de folletos satirico politicos contra los franceses, que obtuvieron mucha popularidad."
