Knyvett, Sir Henry. With an introduction by Charles Hughes - The Defence of the Realme, by Sir Henry Knyvett, 1596. Now for the First Time Printed, from a Ms. In the Chetham Library, Manchester

 1554333494,
[Oxford], At the Clarendon press, 1906. First edition. Blind ruled stiff paper wrappers with front edge beveled (paperback). xxxvi, [1], 75 pp. [1]. 8vo. Tudor and Stuart Library series. Henry Knyvett (d.1598), brother of Thomas Knyvett, wrote this treatise on the training and preparations to defend Britain in case its fleet should be unable to stop invaders on the high seas. No doubt the instability of the European situation in the early years of this century led to its first publication in 1906. Wrappers soiled, scattered foxing to leaves, but overall still a very good clean unmarked copy.
