DE RICCI, Seymour - English Collectors of Books & Manuscripts (1530-1930) and Their Marks of OwnershipNew York, The Macmillan Company, 1930. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth with paper spine label, dust jacket. ix, 203pp. Illustrations, full-page plates. Near fine/very good. Jacket slightly edgeworn. Quite tight and attractive first U.S. edition of this classic. The Cambridge University Press first edition in jacket is scarce and desirable -- and this first U.S. edition even more so. One is tempted to speculate whether much of the print run got pulped by the publisher or incinerated in a warehouse fire, but whatever the case, the first American edition remains scarce as hen's teeth. .
