The greater feasts of Mary have their roots as far back as the 5th century in the Eastern part of what was still the undivided great Church, and in his commentaries he tries to keep close to the great tradition, that is to the place and role of Mary in the history of salvation, and to the intimate association of the Virgin Mother to her son, Jesus Christ.
