John Murray, 1845. 8vo. pp,xl, 484> illuminations and illustrations. Original vellum, inner front joint rather tender, little stained on the upper cover, all edges gilt. Owen Jones was one of the most important designers of the Victorian period and his 5 colour illumination is used on the various title pages> each page features his decorative borders. Although not stated, the gilt decoration to the binding is also almost certainly after a design by Jones.
