Michel Bouquet [1807 - 1890] was a French landscape painter working predominantly on the Continent, North Africa and Asia Minor. This is a very fine series of lithographs by a master of light and shade, showing Scotland at all times of the day and in all weathers. It is considered the rarest nineteenth century illustrated work of Scotland although a companion volume 'The Tourist's Ramble in the Highlands,' the same size and format has fewer listed locations.
