Daziaro, [1870-1890?], oblong 8vo (180x240mm), 24 photographic reproductions of St Petersburg, original red tooled linen covers with gilt lettering "St. Petersbourg" in cyrilic and latin script in relief on front, block loose from binding due to rusted staples, minor staining to titlepage, no staining on photographs, "Daziaro, St Petersbourg" stamped on free endpaper, the photographs show street views of Saint Petersburg (later also known as Leningrad), depicted are the wellknown highlights: Cathedrale St Isaac, N.D. de Kasan, monument of Peter the Great, Monument Nicolas I, Newsky Prospect (with pedestrians, cars and buses), Winterpalace/Hermitage, Fortress St Peter and Paul, Column of Alexander I, Monument Catharine II, Etat Major, Palace Anitschkoff, The Bourse, Pont Nicolas, Conseil de l'Empire, Panorama of the river, good state of the photographs. 24 photographs published by Joseph Daziaro/Giuseppe Kristofovich Daziaro (Pieve Tesino1805/6-St Petersburg 1865) was Russia's first private publisher of high-quality art printing products, merchant of the 2nd guild. Joseph Daziaro (1806-1865) came to the Russian Empire from Italy in the early 1820s. He opened a publishing business and specialized in the sale of lithograph prints. His firm can be called the first private publishing house of printed artistic graphics in Russia. By the beginning of the 1830s, he had 2 shops in Moscow. In 1849, he became the owner of a shop in St. Petersburg. Interesting and scarce collection of mid to late 19th century photographs from Russia.
