An early 1863 edition of the Household Management, written and published by Isabella Beeton herself. In 1865 at the age of 28, Isabella Beeton died and her husband Samuel continued to publish, revise and enlarge subsequent editions. The first complete version of Mrs Beeton's 'Book of Household Management', consisted of the 24 collected monthly instalments, and was published on 1 October 1861. It included an extensive "Analytical Index". Although not an innovation, the index in the Book of Household Management is extremely detailed and exhaustively cross-referenced. Of the 1,112 pages, over 900 contained recipes. The remainder provide advice on fashion, child care, animal husbandry, poisons, the management of servants, science, religion, first aid and the importance in the use of local and seasonal produce. In its first year of publication, the book sold 60,000 copies. It reflected Victorian values, particularly hard work, thrift and cleanliness.. G : in Good condition with rubbed and edge-worn covers. Return policy;
We run a 'no quibble' returns policy.
If we have made any error of collation or missed any significant flaw, or if we have failed to describe the condition honestly and accurately, we refund the cost of the book in full, plus the cost of outward shipping, plus the cost of your return shipping.
If you wish to return a book for any other reason, We refund the cost of the book, less a £5 handling charge. The cost of outward shipping is not refunded. The return shipping, and insurance, is at your expense.
In all cases, the returned book must be in our hands within one calendar month of the original sale, though exceptions can be made to this rule in special cases.
Any new damage suffered by the book will be charged pro-rata.
