Wagner is a noted needlepoint tapestries artist and who works in poetry, music, and the visual arts, one of the first Americans to write "concrete" poetry. The Schneider Museum of Art concluded in 1994 of the exhibition of his work they mounted there that "His work explores the borders between written and spoken language, signs and symbols, and the visual world of painting. For over two decades Wagner has been producing labor intensive, intricate embroideries that transpose the narrative text or voice of the poet into multi-colored textile images. His use of the medium is ironic." Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover, clean, if toned, minimal rubbing to extremities. Bound in brown cloth, with gilt lettering and design to front cover and spine. Some rubbing along extremities. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, little worn, protected by a plastic coat, clipped at bottom. 95 full-color plates and 60 monochrome plates, depicting the social history and geographic range across China of rugs and rugmakers, tools and materials. I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized (extra thick, extra long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
