A particularly handsome little tome, having been lovingly rebound in three-quarter, creamy brown leather, gilt-lettering tooled into two compartments, with marbled paper over boards, and with marbled endpapers. Five raised bands to spine, now protected by Mylar coat. Previous owner's library sticker denoting that this was No. 151 in A.J. Wagner's library. Fine black-and-white cameo vignette of Longfellow at second free endpaper, with "signature" below, but that has shown slight bleed-through to verso of one letter. Two letters, the "H" and the "e" of "Henry," show signs of staining when looked at closely; it certainly looks to be original, but it awaits further research. The novel has a reputation for bittersweetnesss; it follows a young American, Paul Flemming, to and back from Germany, apparently inspired by his own experiences. 364 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. . . . I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized (extra thick, extra long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
