Illustrated with mezzotint portrait frontispiece of George Stephenson, 71 engraved double-page engraved plates, some also folding and 72 woodcuts. Good original publishers cloth. Faded to spine. Very neat gift inscription hand wriitten in copperplate dated 1859 to the reverse of the front endpaper. Title page has some browning. There is some occasional spotting and browning internally but most plates are clean. ; Black & white engravings; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 428 + 44 pages. Good .
