Dekker, Rudolf (red.) - De Van Breestraat in Amsterdam 1900-2000. Van Mata Hari tot Pistolen Paul, Amsterdam: Panchaud 2017, 164 pp.

 1549138834,
The street Van Breestraat in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid is known as one of the most wanted streets to live in in The Netherlands. This was however not always the case. Around 1900 his street in the neighbourhood of the Concertgebouw (Concert building), was built for the well to do. Not only bankers, finance people and industrials, but also many musicians and artists liked to live there. Some inhabitants became very famous as Mata Hari and Pistolen Paul. For a long time the street was catholic, but also jewish. This book explains the whole history of the street, which also reflects the history of the 20th century.
