- Modern Health Crusader. National Tuberculosis Association PinbackCoshocton, OH, American Artworks, Producer. Unbound. no date, presumed circa 1920s. Just over ¾ inch in diameter. Clasping pin style back. A pinback presumably given to children as part of the Modern Health Crusade originated by the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis in 1915. The program expanded in the 1920s to cover various aspects of health and hygiene in schools, using a chivalry based system for advancement based on accomplishment. The red S present on the lower portion of the pinback may indicate this was given to a squire. National Tuberculosis Association printed on the reverse. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and rubbing, with some scuffs and bumps on the lip of the curl. Some rusting to the pin. Very Good .
