Thomas Hoving - Two Worlds of Andrew Wyeth: A Conversation With Andrew Wyeth

 1543933552,
Houghton Mifflin, 1978. Softcover. Near Fine Condition. Firmly bound, clean unmarked pages, slight wear to cover edges. A fascinating book, it gives a detailed commentary from the artist as to what motivated him to paint a particular picture, where his interests within the picture lay, what changed as the work progressed and his thoughts on its final state. So much better than an art critic giving his/her opinion and interpretation. Andrew Wyeth explains his techniques and the reasons he chooses a particular technique for a particular effect or subject. There is no pretentious nonsense just a marvellous insight into his work. The paper quality is not good and the plates are mediocre but other better presented work doesn't always have the insights that this book offers, combine it with a more recent publication with better reproductions. (Reader review) 126 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Art & Design; Inventory No: dscf11447.
