First page with black border. 2 pages of text, third page with some prices/numbers in ink and pencil. Fourth page blank. The letter states..'With reference to your note of yesterday, I beg to inform you that I can supply you with a copy of the 1st Edition of 36 vol and the supplement 4 vol for 32.5'..he goes on to mention the price for supplement and that he is only able to allow 10% to the trade. He also goes on to mention that 'You will have observed from my advertisement that some of the plates have to be reprinted matching….' Letter sent to 'Geo. E. Frese Esq?' Text clear and complete. Paper in clean condition. No tears. Two horizontal crease marks where folded. -- 6 Aug 1853 Letter - 2 page (1 leaf) handwritten letter (180 by 110 mm) from John E Sowerby. First page with black border, The letter discusses the printing/reprinting of plates. He states.. 'as regards the printing and colouring they are in every respect equal to the original stock.'. Letter sent to 'Geo. E. Frese Esq?' Text clear and complete. Paper in clean condition. No tears. Two horizontal crease marks where folded. ** SOWERBY, JOHN EDWARD (1825-1870), botanical draughtsman. In 1841 he produced his first work, the plates for his father Charles Edward Sowerby's 'Illustrated Catalogue of British Plants.' His life was thenceforth mainly spent in illustrating botanical works. James Sowerby lived at No. 2-3 Mead Place, Lambeth, London.
