[ 1st item] reprinted by William Creech, Edinburgh - [2nd item] printed for Peter Hill, Edinburgh, 1792, mixed edition Modern quarter morocco over marbled boards, VG. 22+[tp]+30pp, both title pages a little dust soiled, ownership signature to the top of the title page of the first work, top edge of the second work trimmed with the loss of part of a few page numbers. The first item is stated to be a 6th edition, 1792 & the 2nd item is a 1793 1st edition. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ Two tracts which are critical of Thomas Paine's 'Rights of Man'. The first by William Combe [1742 - 1823 ] was written whilst Combe was employed by William Pitt, on £200 per anum, to write pro-ministerial writings during the Regency crisis and in the aftermath of the French Revolution. The second tract is attributed to Alexander Dalrmple [ 1737 -1808 ] who is better known as hydrographer to the Admiralty a post he was appointed to in 1795.
