EDUCATION - The Village School in an Uproar.

No publisher or printer, c. 1830. Hand coloured engraved print, 140 x 180 mm. A reversed and caricatured version of Henry James Richter's painting of the same name, showing a class of boys who have obviously been left to their own devices and some mischief, then surprised by the return of the schoolmaster wielding his cane. The original dates from c. 1822.
