An apparent work on the Swiss philosopher Henri-Frederic Amiel, including the reaction of Switzerland and Swiss authors/critics on the centenary of his birth. By Rene De Weck, perhaps best known for his work as a member of the Swiss consul in Bucharest, Romania, where he helped in stopping the deportation-due to Nazi persecution-of 2000 Jewish orphans in Moldavia in 1942 (see biography on the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation website). GOOD+ condition. Heavy scuffing/fading to the leather along the spine. Minor fading and edgewear to the book. Some browning to the paper. Good/No Jacket.
