Full calf leather. 375 pp. A collection of letters written primarily by William Warburton to Mr. (Richard) Hurd, with an appendix of several letters written by Charles Yorke to Warburton. These letters present Warburton's thoughts, opinions and philosophy on matters of the day, especially religious and theological topics, but also discussing literary and philosophical topics and figures. William Warburton was the Bishop of Gloucester, but was known for his learning and knowledge on a wide range of topics. He is perhaps best known for his Divine Legation of Moses, which presented a theological paradox to deists. GOOD condition, ex-theological library. Spine label and minor marking/stamping present to the title page. Leather scuffed, with uneven darkening and fading. Minor soiling. Extremities bumped and scuffed. Moderate to heavy foxing and browning to the first and last endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate present. Good/No Jacket.
