ARIS Ernest - That Little White Puppy. [Written and Illustrated by Ernest Aris]. REMARKABLY WELL-PRESERVED COPYHenry Frowde, Hodder & Stoughton,, n.d. [c.1916]. Oblong 12mo., First Edition, with coloured frontispiece, title and text in red and black, and 19 monochrome illustrations (a number full-page) in the text, small neat contemporary signature on front paste-down; original coloured pictorial boards (illustration not repeated in text), very neatly recased with original paper back laid down, new white presentation ribbon and bow threaded through upper board to style, a very good, bright, clean copy. With the trade ticket of Blinko & Sons of Ramsgate on rear paste-down. One of the scarcest titles in the 'Little' series, with the novelty of hand-finished presentation ribbons in the colour of the title. The text is printed in 'handwritten' script that must have been challenging for younger children. The series, of which some half-a-dozen titles are known, was commissioned for H&S following Frowde's departure from Oxford University Press in 1913. No titles from the series appear to be listed in BLPC. VERY SCARCE IN ANY EDITION, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION. EUR 45.00 [Appr.: US$ 48.26 | £UK 38.25 | JP¥ 7618] Book number 12457is offered by:
