Published in 1973, only months after the fall of Salvador Allende to Augusto Pinochet's coup d'etat, it shows the tense days of the military attempt to root out public opposition in the streets of Santiago. Parr/ Badger, The Photobook: A History (Vol. 1), p. 229: "This book begins with a double-page spread of a pile of burning papers. On the top a face can be glimpsed: President Salvador Allende of Chile, overthrown by a military revolt. Allende had been democratically elected, but the United States, in one of the most disreputable episodes in its recent history, deemed his socialist government a Marxist threat to American interests in South America. The CIA actively worked to destabilize the country and supported the military junta of General Augusto Pinochet, who seized power in September 1973. The far-from-bloodless coup leaves today's Chile still trying to come to terms with the damage done to its democratic institutions over three decades ago There are not many images in the book, but each is carefully considered, modest and succinct, spread across a double page in graphic gravure. Despite the difficulties of taking photographs in such a tense and difficult situation, Wessing never forgets the value of composition and lighting control." Books are in good antiquarian condition, unless described otherwise. Serious defects are stated, minor defects not always. All prices are in Euro, tax included, but without postage, packing and bank charges which are at buyer's expense. Shipping of books after receipt of payment. Books may be returned within 14 working days (prior notification welcome). A full refund can be expected if the books do not match the description stated. Otherwise, only the price of the books (excluding shipping costs) will be refunded.
Orders from the Netherlands and other Euro-countries preferably paid by bank transfer.
We also accept VISA, Mastercard/Eurocard, American Express and Paypal at cost.

Onze boeken verkeren in goede antiquarische staat, tenzij anders beschreven. Kleine onvolkomenheden zijn niet altijd vermeld. Prijzen zijn in Euro, inclusief BTW (niet apart vermeld, omdat we deelnemen aan de margeregeling voor antiquaren) en exclusief portokosten.
Een bestelling per e-mail wordt altijd met een e-mail beantwoord. Bestellingen worden doorgaans verstuurd na betaling vooraf.
We behouden ons het recht voor de goederen te verzekeren en/of aangetekend te verzenden. De kosten daarvan worden veelal doorberekend aan de koper.
Boeken blijven eigendom van de verkoper tot de volle prijs is betaald. Retourzendingen binnen 14 dagen na ontvangst (waarbij voorafgaande kennisgeving op prijs wordt gesteld). In dat geval volgt restitutie van de prijs van het boek (exclusief portokosten). Alleen als de beschrijving foutief was, worden ook de portokosten gerestitueerd. Retourzendingen dienen de verkoper te bereiken in dezelfde staat als waarin ze aan de koper werden verzonden. Het risico van retourzendingen is voor de afzender!
