DSB, XIII, 605/11: 'V.M.'s first measurements of gravity in the Netherlands confronted him with what seem an insurmountable obstacle. At many stations it proved impossible to find a stable support for the pendulums; the continuous vibrations of the peaty subsoil would lead to unacceptable errors in the results. V.M.'s efforts to overcome this difficulty were typical of the manner in which he confronted a problem. Far from trusting to luck in trying modifications of the experiments, he started with the thorough theoretical investigation embodied in his doctoral dissertation 'Bijdragen tot de theorie der slingerwaarnemingen' (1915) In the introduction Vening Meinisz disparaged the originality of his own work; most of the disturbances had already been investigated when various authors had been confronted with them. His work, however, presents a systematic treatment....': In later years V.M. made gravimetric expeditions at sea, published in 1929 and 1941.He wrote many contributions on measuring gravity, on geophysics and the theory of elasticity.

We gaan er van uit dat de klant begrijpt dat het door ons aangeboden antiquarische materiaal vaak een hoge ouderdom heeft bereikt en kan vergeleken worden met de oudere mens of de oudere aardappel: met rimpels en gebreken van diverse aard. Roestvlekjes, verzuring, waterschade, scheurtjes, stempels, defecten aan band en papier worden in de regel allemaal vermeld. Voorwaarden bij de verkoop volgens de richtlijnen opgesteld door NVvA en ILAB. Prijzen excl. btw [Nederland en Europa] en porto, behoudens houders van een BTW registratie nummmer. Porto tegen kostprijs. Normaalgesproken levering met factuur in het geval van bekende relaties, veelal wordt gevraagd de factuur bij vooruitbetaling te voldoen.
