France, first half of the 17th century. Loose, only card board front cover remaining. In high quality modern cassette with a part of the original(?) green dyed vellum front cover with a gold royal coat-of-arms pasted on the front. 81 paper sheets. Exlibris Daniel de Bruin. The coats-of-arms are hand painted and coloured, many with gold and silver. ca. 18x14 cm. Most depict full armorial regalia. Some are copperengraved. All in good condition. With many manuscript and printed notes and annotations. This manuscript comes from the collection of Henry Chandon de Briailles (1898-1937) and his son. Some loose coats-of-arms out of this collection were auctioned by Christies Amsterdam on 15 February 2005 (nrs. 17, 19, 31 and 673) and at Bubb Kuyper Haarlem on 19 November 2005. All coats-of-arms are of families that were conseillers (advisors) or presidents of the French Court.
