Wearing Hawaiian dress and mounted on Birdie, he borrowed pony, she was guided by desperado Mountain Jim. In its simple and disarmng style, is is a great piece of reporting on a rugged frontier, delightful letters by an English spinster, a jewel case of keen perception, social analysis and masterful description for this era.
