MATTHEWS, ROBERT - Practical House Building: A Manual for the Self-BuilderPeach black text a4 garage, Blackberry Books. 1991. (ISBN: 9780951529515). Paperback. Paperback in good condition. This book describes all the stages of house building, from start to finish. It explains how the different crafts involved are applied at each stage, with lots of practical information derived from the author's own experience. Many excellent illustrations supplement the text. Written in 1991, the book had its fifth reprint in 2000, and there is still no other book to match its scope and usefulness. Though some aspects of housebuilding have changed since the book was written, the basic techniques of housebuilding described in this book remain the same. It is still an invaluable book for anyone who wants to get involved in site work, whether hands-on or whether supervising subcontractors. Good.
