Kathleen Francis - Conversations with Monuments in Winnipeg

Winnipeg: Kindred Books, 2012. New! Hard bound in laminated boards, oblong 8vo, unpaginated (approx. 48pp). A fine, unmarked copy without previous owner signatures of gift inscriptions. The idea for this book was conceived as a result of the author's return to Winnipeg from Halifax to start a new life. From the author's introductory remarks: If you listen carefully and observe intently, you may discover a strange phenomenon -- the statues in Winnipeg speak. They all have a story to tell, an idea to convey and usually a challenge for those who will listen. They have weathered fierce winters and infamous winds. They have stood firm as a prophetic presence as well as a reminder of the past and lessons learned. They call us to listen and invite us to gain insight. They have seen much, maybe even you as you've passed by. Actually, I don't know if it was me who first noticed them of them who caught my eye and drew me into conversation. I would like to share these private conversations and reflections with you in hope that they will inspire and encourage you as they have me. 470 grams. We welcome all reasonable offers on our books.
