RODGER, GEORGE. - Red Moon Rising.

Rodger's account of the Burma Campaign, the destruction of Mandalay, the deserted city of Rangoon, the journeys across rivers & through jungles by jeep, until they were forced to abandon the jeep & continue on foot. Rodger had been given a 3 month assignment by Life Magazine in December 1940 to cover the Free French activities in West Africa. When this ended he drove across Africa to cover the war in Eritrea & Abyssinia, he drove from battlefront to battlefront. Made Official War Correspondent in Cairo he then flew to Burma where his story begins in Rangoon. 127 pages. With about 83 b./w. photographs on 64 pages taken by the author for Life Magazine. Contents clean & near fine except previous owner's name on top edge of front free endpage. Cover is very good but faint mark on back, edges & front bottom corner slightly soiled. Worn and torn d./w. with some tape on inside, priced 12s. 6d. 1943
